ITEM SUMMARY:
• Grant funds will be used to buy 284 ‘Stop the Bleed’ kits to be placed next to AEDs in City of McKinney buildings and throughout the community.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• The Stop the Bleed kits contain a C-A-T tourniquet, QuickClot bleeding control dressing, instructional booklet, Sharpie marker, protective gloves and a compression bandage.
• The McKinney Fire Department is currently teaching ‘Ready to React’ classes that include ‘Stop the Bleed’ training and hands-only CPR, meaning hundreds will soon be trained to use this equipment in a mass casualty event, or a medical crisis involving one person.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• The total for the grant is $19,941.00 to pay for 284 ‘Stop the Bleed’ kits. There is no match required.
