ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     Funding of $12,000 is requested from the Public Art Fund as match for available TCA grant funds.

                     The grant would fund public artwork in the form of butterflies, created by McKinney artists, and placed at strategic locations within the Cultural District.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     The City of McKinney has obtained a Cultural District Designation.

                     The Texas Commission on the Arts has grant funding available to support projects in designated Cultural Districts.

                     In 2018, the City of McKinney signed the National Wildlife Federation’s Monarch Pledge, supporting the creation of beneficial ecosystems to ensure the future of the monarch butterfly and other pollinators.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     Funds will be taken from 001-9999-403-8559.

                     Inclusive of all current obligations, $22,195 will be remaining in the Public Art Fund if this project is approved.
