RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
* Approval of the attached Resolution.

ITEM SUMMARY:
* The proposed Resolution authorizes the application for and acceptance of, if awarded, a Collin County Parks and Open Space Funding Assistance Program grant for the Greens of McKinney trail connection and other related improvements.

* The application submission deadline to Collin County is July 8, 2019, with an award announcement in October of this year (FY20).

* This project will include a grade separated trail connection from Towne Lake to the newly acquired Greens of McKinney property in addition to related improvements such as upgrading pedestrian bridges, widening/improving walking paths, etc.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* Upon award, the project will be ready to begin design utilizing a landscape architect from the City's approved vendor list.

* This project will continue the linear park and trail system along Wilson Creek, the spine of our parks and trails.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
* The Parks and Recreation Department is requesting assistance in the amount of $1,000,000.
* This funding program requires a 50% match from the City.
