ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     Direction 61:3 is requesting a grant in the amount of $5,000 to advertise, market and promote the 2019 Christmas Mosaix event.

                     Christmas Mosaix has been in place since 2017 with past performances at the Sanctuary Events Center.

                     Direction 61:3 is working with MISD to secure the new performance center at McKinney High School for the 2019 event.

                     Plans include hosting two concerts on Saturday, December 21, 2019.

                     Performing groups include: rock/pop orchestra; American Idol participants; local bands; country band; State Honor Choir from Eddins Elementary; Jazz and/or Big Band; Motown Christmas tunes; and combined Church Choir Gospel piece.

                     Planned ticket price for the concert is $35.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     Direction 61:3 is a 501(c)(3) organization established in 2015 to provide support for young adults aging out of foster care.

                     Aged out youth are at high risk of challenges including homelessness, unemployment, incarceration, unplanned pregnancies and substance abuse.

                     Direction 61:3 provides support and stability through housing, education and emotional support.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     MCDC’s allocation for Promotional and Community Event grants for FY 19 Cycle II is $76,125.

                     Direction 61:3 has not applied for a Promotional and Community Event grant in prior cycles.
