RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
• Discuss the Update to the City’s Development Regulations
ITEM SUMMARY:
• The purpose of this work session item is to provide the council with an introduction to the development update process as well as the lead consultant on the project, Clarion Associates.
• Over the next several weeks, the project team will be conducting outreach of various levels and types to generate discussion and consensus related to the foundational direction of the update to the code.
• Next steps, the project team will prepare a detailed assessment of the code and identify short-term priority amendments.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• An update to the City’s development regulations is a priority implementation measure identified in the recently adopted ONE McKinney 2040 Comprehensive Plan.
• This update will build on the work of the Comprehensive Plan by reviewing and modernizing key components of the City’s development code so that they better align with the vision described in the Comprehensive Plan.
