ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     On February 5, 2019, City Council approved the award of the contract for $40,000, for the creation and installation of the Mitchell Park Sculpture, Unity Arch, to AiQui Hopen.

                     $1,500 was provided to three artists to create design concepts

                     DFA, LTD (Dona Day and children Dana, Craig and Lisa Day) is providing $20,750 of the $41,500 project total.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     Don Day is providing for the engineering of the concrete base for the sculpture.

                     The Parks Department agreed to pay for the concrete base, along with a pathway and landscaping

                     The additional cost of the base, due to the height and weight of the sculpture, is being requested from the Public Art Fund.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     The unobligated amount currently available in the Public Art Fund is $51,695
