RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
• Approval of the Resolution.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• This Resolution authorizes the City Manager to execute a professional services contract to provide architectural and engineering (A/E) services related to the design and construction of McKinney Fire Station 11 (MFS11) located at 6260 Rundell Way, McKinney, Texas.
• Conduit Architecture + Design, LLC has submitted a proposal to provide professional architectural and engineering services for McKinney Fire Station 11 for a lump sum fee of $566,595.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• Conduit Architecture + Design, LLC is a professional architectural consulting firm based in McKinney and has been the architect of record on multiple successful City of McKinney projects including McKinney Fire Stations 9 and 10.
• The price proposed for A/E services for MFS11 is different than on past fire station projects due to the unique configuration of the site.
• On February 10, 2018, the City of McKinney signed a resolution (2018-02-023R) approving pre-qualified firms to provide architectural and engineering services to the City of McKinney. Conduit Architecture+Design, LLC is one of the five architectural firms chosen to participate in the A/E vendor pool by RFQ 18-16RFQ for A/E Services for Multiple Projects in McKinney.
• The Facilities Construction Division received City Management approval on May 10, 2018, as allowed by Purchasing Policy, Chapter 19 - Procurement of Professional Services, and in alignment with Section 2254 et seq. of the Texas Government Code, to contract with Conduit Architecture + Design, LLC for architectural and engineering services related to the design and construction of the Craig Ranch Fire Station (FI1731).
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• The Resolution authorizes the City Manager to execute a professional services contract for architectural and engineering services, including potential changes to the scope of services, with Conduit Architecture + Design, LLC for an amount not to exceed $622,595 which includes a contingency amount of $56,000.
• Upon approval of this item, $377,405 will remain in FI1731.
• An additional $9.5 million of unissued debt is expected to be sold and added to this project later in 2020.
