ITEM SUMMARY:
• Currently, Collin County Transit is eligible for individuals who are 65 and older, living with a disability, or considered low-income
• In order to serve a greater number of individuals, the Board asked staff to look at introducing a hardship category. Examples of hardships include but not limited to homelessness, unemployment, or extreme poverty
• Staff is presenting a 12-month hardship pilot program. During this time, staff and DCTA will evaluate increases in ridership and monitor the financial impact to the MUTD
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• On August 14, 2019, the MUTD Board asked staff to research ways to improve Collin County Transit and reach those in need who are currently not participating. Specifically, the Board asked how Collin County Transit could increase assistance to individuals experiencing financial hardships
