ITEM SUMMARY:

On August 14, 2019, the Board asked staff evaluate the possibility of increasing the income ranges for individuals applying as low-income

Staff is seeking Board approval on whether to change Collin County Transit’s income qualification policy

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

The Low-Income Transit Subsidy Pilot Program ran from April 2, 2018 to March 31, 2019 and allowed income-qualified residents to participate in Collin County Transit

On January 16, 2019, the Board approved Low-Income as the third qualifying criteria alongside Elderly and Disabled

FTA Section 5307 will reimburse low-income expenses if it meets the low-income definition

FTA defines “low-income” as persons at or below 150% of the U.S. Poverty Guidelines published by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services

Currently, Collin County Transit’s income ranges are approximately 160% of the U.S. Poverty Guidelines
