RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:                     

                     Approval of the Resolution.

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     This Resolution authorizes the City Manager to execute a contract in the amount of $79,800.00, as well as all required supplemental agreements thereto, with Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. for professional landscape architectural services for the Master Plan for the Al Ruschhaupt Park Restroom / Concession Renovation Project (PK4392), for a total aggregate contract amount, inclusive of any supplemental agreements, not to exceed $82,000.00.

 

                     The master plan will include recommendations related to updating the athletic fields, hike and bike trails, signage, concession and restroom buildings, shade structures, parking lots, disc golf course, and other general park improvements. The amenities for the park will be determined by the City through facilitated public meetings and illustrated on the conceptual master plan.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     Kimley-Horn and Associates, was selected from a list of pre-qualified landscape architectural firms that Council approved on June 18, 2019.

 

                     Al Ruschhaupt Park is located at 1986 Park View Ave. in McKinney, TX

 

                     The 96 acre park was originally developed in two phases, consisting of five multi-use fields utilized for soccer, cricket, football, and lacrosse, as well as hike and bike trails, two concession / restroom facilities, picnic shelters, a splash pad, playgrounds, and 2 parking lots.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

 

                     This Resolution authorizes a design contract and any necessary supplemental agreements with Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. for an amount not to exceed $82,000.00.

 

                     Al Ruschhaupt Park Restroom / Concession Renovation Project (PK4392) is funded by MCDC in an amount of $1,500,000. The final budget is to be determined through this master plan process.

 

                     Upon approval of this item, $1,412,330 will remain in PK4392. A portion of this available funding will be utilized to commence with some park upgrades concurrent to the master plan creation, such as adding field lighting to Phase 2 and replacing existing field lighting on Phase 1.  

 

BOARD RECOMMENDATION:                     

                     The Parks, Recreation & Open Space Advisory Board recommended the approval of this item at their November 14, 2019, meeting.
