RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
* Staff recommends that City Council accept the two awards recently received by the Planning Department from the Texas Chapter of the American Planning Association (APA):
o Award for Planning Excellence for the ONE McKinney 2040 Comprehensive Plan
o Certificate of Achievement for Richard R. Lillie, FAICP Program for Planning Excellence

ITEM SUMMARY:
* The Texas Chapter of the APA has presented the City of McKinney with an Award for Planning Excellence for the ONE McKinney 2040 Comprehensive Plan.

o This award recognizes comprehensive plans that advance the science and art of planning.

o The award was presented to the City at the Annual Conference of the Texas APA in Waco, TX in November 2019. The video presented at the conference, which describes the City's comprehensive plan and its strengths, is available at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1-ihey0XLA.

o Two cities received this award for their comprehensive plans, the City of McKinney and the City of Boerne.

* Additionally, the Texas APA has awarded the City of McKinney with the "Certificate of Achievement for Richard R. Lillie, FAICP Program for Planning Excellence."

o This award recognizes the professional planning standards demonstrated by planning staff and the support exhibited by the City Council and Planning and Zoning Commission.

o In order to receive this award, a city must meet the APA Chapter goals for:
* Increasing awareness of professional planning;
* Enhancing neighborhood and citizen recognition of planning e...
