RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:                     

                     Approval of Resolution.

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     This Resolution authorizes a contract with Professional Services Industries, Inc. (PSI) to provide materials testing services during the construction of the Bloomdale Road Extension Project (ST4227) and Redbud Pump Station Transmission Line (850PP) Phase 1 Project (WA4340), for an amount not to exceed $160,000. 

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     A concurrent item is included on the Council Agenda recommending award of a construction contract for the Bloomdale Road Extension Project (ST4227) and Redbud Pump Station Transmission Line (850PP) Phase 1 Project (WA4340).

                     Material testing services will be required on the project to ensure construction materials and methods used by the contractor meet or exceed City requirements.

                     PSI submitted a response to RFQ 18-22 for Miscellaneous Geotechnical and Material Testing services. They were one of five firms shortlisted by City Council on March 6, 2018.

                     PSI has successfully performed in a similar capacity on numerous City projects.

                     PSI has submitted a proposal for their professional services in the amount of $141,624.00 ($128,249 for ST4227 and $13,375 for WA4340).

                     Reimbursement for material testing services provided by PSI will be made based on actual time and materials billing in an amount not to exceed the estimated proposal amount.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     The Resolution authorizes a contract with PSI for an amount not to exceed $160,000 ($145,000 for ST4227 and $15,000 for WA4340). 

                     Pending the approval of this item and the accompanying budget amendment and construction contract items, $946,233.00 will remain in ST4227 and $1,031,850 will remain in WA4340.
