Approval of this item authorizes Dunaway Associates, L.P., to provide planning and landscape architectural services to renovate four parks.

o                     Murphy Park - 1601 W. Josephine. Built in the early 1950’s and renovated in the early 1990’s.

o                     Mary Will Craig - 2701 Bois D’Arc Road. Built in 1998.

o                     North Park - 1701 North McDonald St. Built in 1969

These four parks are listed in the current Parks Master Plan as part of the recommended 10 parks in need of refreshing and renovating.

The updates to each park will focus on renovations to the play structures, pavilions, ballfields, and ADA accessibility.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Dunaway Associates was selected from a list of pre-qualified landscape architectural firms that Council approved on June 18, 2019.

The goal is to have these four park projects shovel ready in anticipation of a forthcoming 2020 Bond Issuance.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY:

The Park Renovations (PK1831) is a FY19-20 Capital Improvements Program funded by MCDC funds in an amount of $1,204,583.

The final project budget is still to be determined, but is programmed to be funded using 2019 authorized bonds in addition to the existing MCDC funding.

Upon approval of this item, the remaining balance in PK1831 will be $1,079,583.  A concurrent agenda item that is also being considered out of this PK project is for the Master Plan contract for Studio Outside.  Approval of that item will bring the final balance in PK1831 to $964,583.
