ITEM SUMMARY:
• An Ordinance of the City Council of the City of McKinney, Texas, amending Chapter 87, “Special Events,” of the City of McKinney Code of Ordinances by adding a new article VI, “Neighborhood Block Party Permits”; providing a severability clause; providing for appeal of conflicting ordinances; establishing governing law; providing for a penalty for the violation hereof; and providing an effective date.
• Not changing the process for street closure - but this request would be coordinated by Neighborhood Services.
• Allowing a ‘no-fee’ street closure for Homeowners’ Association (HOA) versus the $100 fee charged as part of special event permit.
• Homeowner support required by petition.
• First choice for HOA to use their property or green space.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• In conjunction with the launching of the new Block Party Trailer, we are establishing a Neighborhood Block Party permit and procedures for those citizens who wish to block a street or alleyway to host a block party.
