RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL/PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION ACTION:
* Receive presentation regarding the progress on the update to the City's Development Regulations (known as New Code McKinney) and discuss the foundational direction of the initiative moving forward.

ITEM SUMMARY:
* The purpose of this Work Session Item is to provide the Council and Planning and Zoning Commission with an update on the status of the New Code McKinney initiative, which includes an assessment of the existing development regulations and broad recommendations for creating an updated development code.

* Over the last several months, city staff and the consultant team have hosted a number of internal and external meetings, interviews, and discussions related to the existing development regulations in McKinney. This has included discussions with City Council, the Planning and Zoning Commission, members of the development community, and members of staff from across the city. In order to reach as many people as possible, an online survey was also used to allow an open forum for providing feedback.

* Based on the feedback received and a technical assessment of the existing development regulations, the project team has drafted a Code Assessment Report and is pleased to present a summary of that report tonight along with broad recommendations for improving McKinney's development code.
