BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

In February 2019, the City of McKinney authorized a contract for Design/Build Services with ScoBilt Contractors, Inc. in association with Spurgin & Associates Architects for the Old Settler’s Recreation Center Renovation Project.

The current Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) is $3,875,000 for complete design and build services associated with the Old Settler’s Recreation Center Renovation Project, and any potential future changes of scope, for an amount not to exceed $3,975,000 which includes an owner’s contingency of $100,000.

The Old Settler’s Recreation Center Renovation Project currently has a total project budget of $4,300,000.

At this time, staff is considering adding a warming/catering kitchen to the project scope and located in a new community room.

In addition, during the current construction activities, staff has identified other areas of the existing facility that may benefit from an upgrading, such as existing roofing.

Costs for this work are being generated by the design team.

Staff is seeking approval to forward this project to City Council for final review and consideration.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY:

Any needed funding for potential additions to the project budget, to be determined, will come from Parkland Dedication Zone 4, which has a balance of $2,355,156.
