RECOMMENDED ACTION:
• Approve the recommendation to City Council.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• The renovation of Cottonwood Park includes new play equipment, pavilions, sport-court, shade structures, on and off street parking, splash feature, pedestrian connectivity and landscaping.
• City staff worked with Kimley-Horn on preparing the construction plans and specifications as needed for project bidding.
• The project includes a base bid and 4 alternates:
o Alternate 1: Sport court shade structure
o Alternate 2: Playground shade structure
o Alternate 3: Shade structures along McMakin Street
o Alternate 4: LED lighting along the stone benches
• Staff declined to accept
• Staff recommends awarding the construction bid to North Rock Construction, LLC in an amount of $2,820,520.31 (includes base bid + Alternates 1-3).
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• A total of 10 bids were received.
• North Rock Construction has completed projects for the City of McKinney in the past, including Dr. Mack Hill Park and various trail projects.
• If approved, construction should begin in March with a 273 day contract schedule.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• The Cottonwood Park Renovation Project (PK1737) is a FY19-20 Capital Improvements Program funded by MCDC funds and Parkland Dedication Funds Zone 4.
• Upon approval of this item, $125,679 remains in the project budget.
