ITEM SUMMARY:
• McKinney Community Development Corporation has prepared a project grant application requesting $36,800 for the purchase and installation of eight benches to be placed around the perimeter to provide additional seating for visitors to the Historic downtown square throughout the year.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• Established in 1996, the mission of McKinney Community Development Corporation is to work proactively, in partnership with others, to promote and fund community, cultural and economic development projects that maintain and enhance quality of life in McKinney.
• Each year more than 800,000 visitors make more than 4.7 million visits to the Historic Cultural District to shop, dine and attend community festivals on an annual basis.
• Currently there are three benches, of different styles, located around MPAC - two donated by McKinney Garden Club; one donated by MCDC.
• Approval of the project request will fund eight identical benches and the pads to secure them around the MPAC property - replacing the three existing benches and providing five additional benches.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• Funds allocated for FY20 for discretionary Project Grants is $1,563,985.
• The project grant application is eligible for consideration by the MCDC board under Section 505.152 of the Texas Local Government Code.
