RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:                     

                     Approval of Resolution.

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     This Resolution authorizes a contract with Kleinfelder to provide materials testing services during the construction of the CO1902 - Main Replacements & Street Rehab (Northwood Park / Westwood Park Area) Project, for an amount not to exceed $89,000. 

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

                     A concurrent item is included on the Council Agenda recommending award of a construction contract for the CO1902 - Main Replacements & Street Rehab (Northwood Park / Westwood Park Area) Project.

                     Material testing services will be required on the project to ensure construction materials used by the contractor meet or exceed City requirements. 

                     Kleinfelder submitted a response to RFQ 18-22 for miscellaneous geotechnical and materials testing services. They were one of five firms shortlisted by City Council on March 6, 2018.

                     Kleinfelder has successfully performed in a similar capacity on numerous City projects.

                     Kleinfelder has submitted a proposal for their professional services in the amount of $77,840.

                     Reimbursement for materials testing services provided will be made based on actual time and materials billing in an amount not to exceed the estimated proposal amount.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     The Resolution authorizes a contract with Kleinfelder for an amount not to exceed $89,000.

o                     $41,118 (46.2%) allocated towards utility funding (Fund 20)

o                     $47,882 (53.8%) allocated towards street funding (Fund 21)

                     Funds are available in the Capital Improvements Program Project CO1902.

                     With approval of this item and accompanying items for the Main Replacements & Street Rehab (Northwood Park / Westwood Park Area) Project, $2,388,099 will remain in CO1902.

o                     $1,650,981 will remain in utility funding (Fund 20)

o                     $737,118 will remain in street funding (Fund 21)
