ITEM SUMMARY:
* Texas Music Office, Office of the Governor is presenting the Texas Music Friendly Designation to Visit McKinney. Presenting on behalf of the Office of the Governor will be Director Brendon Anthony and Community Relations & Outreach Specialist Chip Adams of the Texas Music Office.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* The Texas Music Office is the State of Texas' official economic development office for the Texas music industry, and the office's resources are an unparalleled source of information into why the Texas Music industry annually has a multi-billion-dollar economic impact on the state's economy. The music industry has been growing in McKinney for years, so it made sense that the city be officially recognized by the Office of the Governor with their Texas Music Friendly Community designation. Visit McKinney began the process of earning this designation for the city late last year and in January, hosted a workshop to connect local people involved in the music scene with Visit McKinney and the Texas Music Office. At that point, a seven-person advisory board was appointed for McKinney's Music Office with Visit McKinney serving as the group's liaison with the Governor's Office. This advisory board will begin holding meetings once this designation is officially in place.]

FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
* The Texas Music Friendly Designation has the potential to attract musicians from outside of the area to come perform in the City of McKinney, attracting their own fans and therefore bring visitors that stay overnight, shop and dine in McKinney.
