ITEM SUMMARY:
* This item is to discuss the roadway connectivity on the eastside of McKinney. The Engineering Department is working with various clients and departments on redevelopment projects within the boundaries of US 380, Airport Drive, Elm Street, and State Highway 5/McDonald Street ("SH 5"). A further analysis of the roadway network is required to better serve the proposed developments.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* McKinney is developing new areas of the City but at the same time it is redeveloping central destinations like Encore Wire Campus, Old Settler's Park, and the area East of SH 5 around the Flour Mill. The following sections provide more information about each of these redevelopment efforts.

Encore Wire Campus
Encore Wire owns a significant amount of land around the intersection of Airport Drive and Elm Street and they plan to expand their existing headquarters north of Elm Street. The City Engineering Department has received, reviewed, and approved the development site plan, pre-final plat, record plat, site work plans, grading permit plans, and Elm Street realignment plans.

The plans propose Elm Street to be realigned north of the existing connection to Airport Drive. This alignment would allow for a safer environment for Encore Wire staff and provide an eastern connection to the adjacent neighborhood.
