ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     The McKinney Community Development Corporation conducted a public hearing on the project grant application submitted by The Heritage Guild of Collin County for projects located within the Chestnut Square Historic Village on April 25, 2019. The grant was approved at the meeting on May 23, 2019. Applicant has requested approval of allocating unused funds, in the amount of $762, from purchase and installation of artificial turf in the wedding garden toward purchase of an awning for one of the properties within Chestnut Square.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     Support for community entertainment, tourist and museum venues and amenities in east McKinney is a priority of the MCDC board of directors.

                     The Heritage Guild was organized in 1973 and is home to Chestnut Square Historic Village.

                     The mission of Chestnut Square is to celebrate community, preserve history and inspire the future. The Village hosts more than 50,000 visitors annually.

 

                     The components of the project included repairs and improvements to five structures/amenities at Chestnut Square: Dixie’s Store; PA/Speaker System; porch awnings; Wedding Garden; and the Johnson House.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY:

                     The request was eligible for MCDC funding under Section 505.152 of the Texas Local Government Code - Projects Related to Entertainment, Tourist and Museum facilities.
