                     Approval of the Resolution.

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     Parkhill Smith & Cooper (aka Schrickel Rollins/ PSC, Inc.) prepared a report in 2019 to determine the preliminary design and feasibility of constructing an indoor tennis facility at the Courts of McKinney in Gabe Nesbitt Community Park. The study developed a conceptual design for six indoor courts and estimated a budget of $9,000,000.

 

                     Based upon their master plan design and quality of work, they were requested to provide design and construction administration services for the completion of the project.

 

                     This agenda item will authorize a professional services contract with Schrickel Rollins/PSC, Inc. to provide landscape architectural and engineering services for the indoor tennis facility in a contract amount of $925,725 and not to exceed $970,000.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     Schrickel Rollins/PSC, Inc. designed and provided construction administration services for the newly constructed 12 court tennis expansion project.

 

                     Schrickel Rollins/PSC, Inc. was selected from a list of pre-qualified landscape architectural firms that Council approved on June 18, 2019.

 

                     Texas Parks and Wildlife granted $701,000 towards this project in 2019.

 

                     The indoor tennis facility is shown on the City Council-adopted 2015 master plan for Gabe Nesbitt Community Park and promoted within the 2017 Parks, Recreation, Open Space, Trails and Streetscape Master Plan.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     This Resolution authorizes a design contract and any necessary supplemental agreements with Schrickel Rollins/PSC, Inc. for an amount not to exceed $970,000.00.

 

                     The Courts Indoor Tennis Expansion Project (PK2042) is a FY19-20 Capital Improvements Program funded by Parkland Dedication Monies, Texas Parks and Wildlife Grant and Donation funds in an amount of $3,701,000. Additional funding will come via parkland dedication and private contributions.

 

                     Upon approval of this item, $2,731,000 will remain in PK2042.

                     The Park Board unanimously recommended approval of this item on June 11, 2020.
