RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION: Elect a City Council Member to serve as Mayor Pro Tem, effective now until the first City Council Regular Meeting of June 2021

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     Section 18a of the McKinney City Charter requires that “The Council shall elect from among the Council members a Mayor Pro Tempore who shall be elected once per year at the first regular City Council meeting in June.  The Mayor Pro Tempore shall act as Mayor during the absence or the disability of the Mayor, and if a vacancy occurs, shall become Mayor for the completion of the unexpired term.  In this event, his or her former place as Council member shall be deemed vacant.”
