RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:                     

                     Approval of the Resolution

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     This resolution authorizes a professional services contract with JBI Partners, Inc., to provide landscape architectural and engineering services related to the improvements of Finch Park in a contract amount of $149,000 and a design budget not to exceed $160,000.

  

                     Scope of Services:

o                     Planning and Design                        $92,000

o                     Other Related Services                    $52,000

o                     Reimbursable Expenses                  $  5,000

o                     Contingency                                     $11,000

Total                                                 $160,000

 

                     The Finch Park Improvements will include but not be limited to:

o                     Hike and Bike Trail Lights

o                     New Playground Area and Equipment

o                     Native Planting Areas Throughout The Park

o                     Improve Existing Bandstand Pavilion

o                     Modifications to Existing Storm System

o                     Signature Park Entry Signs

o                     Miscellaneous Improvements

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     JBI was selected from a list of pre - qualified landscape architectural firms that Council approved on June 18, 2019.

      

                     JBI has worked with the Parks Department in the past on City hike and bike trails from a private sector capacity. JBI also designed phase IV of Finch Park, which includes hike and bike trail, new sport courts, pavilions, pedestrian bridges, and new site furnishings.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     The Finch Park Improvements Project (PK 2039) is a FY19-20 Capital Improvements Program funded by bonds and MCDC, in an amount of $165,000. 

 

                     This agenda item is for design only, and any additional construction monies are being designated as part of the FY20 - 21 Capital Improvements Program.

  

                     The Resolution authorizes a professional services contract for landscape architectural and engineering services, and any necessary supplemental agreements with JBI Partners, Inc. for the amount not to exceed $160,000. 

 

                      Upon approval of this item, $5,000 will remain in PK 2039. 

 

BOARD OR COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION:

                     On July 9th 2020, the PROS Advisory Board recommended to City Council that JBI Partners, Inc. be awarded the professional landscape, architectural and engineering services contract for Finch Park Improvements project, for additional park amenities to be added.
