RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
• Approval of the Ordinance.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• This Ordinance will establish a reduced speed school zone for Rock Hill High School on Northbound Coit Road.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• The Prosper Independent School District has constructed a new high school on the west side of Coit Road at Jacksboro Lane within the City of Frisco. The name of the new school is Rock Hill High School.
• The City Limit between McKinney and Frisco is the centerline of the median along Coit Road; therefore, this Ordinance will only apply to the northbound lanes of Coit Road. The reduced speed school zone for Rock Hill High School along the southbound lanes will be established by the City of Frisco.
• The location of the proposed reduced speed school zones and crosswalk along Coit Road for Rock Hill High School are shown on the attached exhibit.
• The school zone time periods will be consistent with the Prosper ISD school schedule.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• The City of Frisco will install and maintain the school zone flashing beacons and other related school signage along Coit Road for Rock Hill High School for both directions of travel.
