ITEM SUMMARY:
*? This Resolution authorizes the City Manager to enter into an Interlocal Agreement with Collin County to provide funding for Wilmeth Road from Lake Forest Drive to Hardin Boulevard (CIP Project ST1719)
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* Collin County voters approved a $750 million bond package in November 2018 which includes an allocation of $140 million for arterial roadways that feed into the highway system.
* On September 5, 2019 Collin County released the 2019-2020 Call for City Projects which invited cities throughout Collin County to submit eligible thoroughfare improvement projects for possible funding through the county bond package (up to $36 million in total awarded funding).
* Each city was limited to funding of only one project although multiple projects were able to be submitted. The awarded amount by Collin County provides up to a 50% project funding match for project expenditures.
* The Engineering Department submitted five (5) project candidates for consideration including CIP Project ST1719 which includes construction of a new segment of Wilmeth Road between Lake Forest Drive and Hardin Boulevard.
* On March 16, 2020 the Collin County Commissioners Court voted to award funding to projects submitted in the 2019-2020 Call for City Projects. The City of McKinney was one of six (6) cities that received an award for a specific project.
