RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
• Staff recommends approval of the proposed right-of-way abandonment.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• Staff received a request to abandon a portion of an unnamed alley located on the east side of Oak Street and south of White Avenue.
• The right-of-way consists of an area 15 feet wide extending from Oak Street to a point approximately 155 feet east of Oak Street, where it intersects another unnamed alley, and containing approximately 0.05 acres.
• The right-of-way contains no public infrastructure or utilities and no easements are proposed to be retained after the requested abandonment.
• Public hearing notices were sent to all property owners within 200 feet of the requested abandonment, and a legal notice was published in the McKinney Courier-Gazette. As of August 6, 2020, staff has received no comments in support of or opposition to this request.
• All owners adjacent to the right-of-way have signed a petition supporting the requested abandonment.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• An application and supporting documentation for the requested abandonment were submitted on July 13, 2020.
