Consider/Discuss/Act on Six Month Extension of Services with DCTA; Update on Transit Operations Procurement

ITEM SUMMARY:
• MUTD Staff is in discussion with DART, DCTA, and STAR on a collaborative approach to transit service and operations options.
• A formal proposal may not be ready in time to ensure continuity of service staring January 2021.
• The current contract with DCTA expires December 31, 2020.
• In order to provide adequate time to develop the next service contract, and to not interrupt service, staff recommends requesting a DCTA contract extension until 6/30/21.
• If approved by MUTD, DCTA has agreed to bring the extension request to their Board for consideration in November 2021.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• Contract with DCTA, the current operations provider, expires 12/31/2020.
