ITEM SUMMARY:
• City will receive an additional $728,548 CDBG-CV allocation from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in the city’s current fiscal year, authorized under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act), Public Law 116-136, signed on March 27, 2020. Staff requested City Council input on the use of funds for eligible public service activities.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• Staff presented to Council on November 3, 2020 to discuss the allocation of the CDBG-CV funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the preliminary proposal to distribute funding in public services toward the prevention of, response to and impact of the coronavirus.
• The City of McKinney completed a five-day public comment period, provided an updated to City Council on November 3 at work session and City Council conducted a public hearing on November 3, 2020.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
The Ordinance amends the Fiscal Year 2020-2021 Annual Budget to allocate funds received from HUD for the McKinney CDBG-CV Program in the amount of $728,548, under the CDBG program year and city fiscal year, ending September 30, 2021.
