ITEM SUMMARY:
• The City was considered and allocated direct funding from the State of Texas under its CDBG-CV program, in the amount of $222,994. CDBG-CV funding must be used to prevent, prepare for, and respond to coronavirus. This scope of CDBG-CV funding will be used to assist eligible residents with rental assistance only to benefit eligible low-to-moderate income households under the State of Texas guidelines. Eligible residents may also receive eviction protection, to waive late penalties and not pass court fees to the tenant.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• The State of Texas allocated a total of $ 40 million to current CDBG grantees under their Texas Emergency Rental Assistance Program (TERAP) will help eligible McKinney residents, who are behind on their rent due to the COVID-19 pandemic, stay in their homes and will provide up to six months of rental assistance. The household must be economically impacted by the pandemic. Residents cannot have received rental assistance for the same months of rent and will not seek such assistance in the future for the covered months. The City of McKinney will be a subrecipient under the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• The Ordinance amends the Fiscal Year 2020-2021 Annual Budget, allocating funds received from TDHCA, total amount of $222,994. Expenditures will be under the fiscal account, 017-1704 with an assigned project number.
