ITEM SUMMARY:
• The 2006/2007 Town Center Study and subsequent One McKinney 2040 Comprehensive Plan establish a vision for Downtown McKinney.
• The City of McKinney has completed several projects since 2007 in order to implement the Town Center Plan.
• Over the past 6 months several projects are beginning that specifically impact the town center area east of Highway 5. These projects include the Tupps Brewery relocation/expansion, municipal complex, Old Settler’s Park master plan and infrastructure projects.
• In order to provide a unified communication plan and public engagement process, the City formed the East McKinney Project Outreach and Communication (EMPOC) Team.
• This team is developing a unified communication plan and public engagement process to inform and solicit feedback from the citizens of East McKinney regarding upcoming redevelopment plans, infrastructure projects and other initiatives for the area east of State Highway 5.
• Staff will provide a presentation updating the Council on this effort. Future updates are planned to share project specific updates.
