ITEM SUMMARY:
* On October 20, 2020, Staff presented a brief synopsis of the research and comments gathered from the Throckmorton Statue Ad Hoc Advisory Board meetings, including a summary of submitted public comments, and the Throckmorton Statue Ad Hoc Advisory Board gave two presentations. One discussed the position of keeping the statue in place and the other discussed the position of relocating the statue.

* Staff will present a brief recap of the research and information presented at the October 20 meeting. gathered from the Throckmorton Statue Ad Hoc Advisory Board meetings, including a summary of submitted public comments.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
* In July 2020, the McKinney City Council approved a resolution establishing the Throckmorton Statue Ad Hoc Advisory Board.

* The purpose of the Ad Hoc Advisory Board is to:
o advise staff in performing expert research related to the context, appropriateness, and relevancy of the Throckmorton statue and
o ensure that the community is engaged in the discussion so that the City Council may be presented with thorough and balanced research and options regarding the statue and other cultural artifacts located on City-owned property.
* The Throckmorton Statue Ad Hoc Advisory Board provided review, advice, and oversight of staff research related to the Throckmorton Statue. This research resulted in a thorough and balanced report to the City Council ...
