RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:                     

                     Approval of resolution to apply for, accept and implement the grant award of $210,000.

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     The City of McKinney Fire Department is seeking Council approval to apply for 2021 Urban Area Security Initiative Grant funds in order to support continued efforts to expand our special operations programs increasing our capability to respond to a variety of incidents and disasters. We plan to use whatever funding is granted from UASI for the following projects. Please note: Not all projects may be funded, but depending upon the amount granted, funds will be used to support projects in the following areas: Mass Decontamination Trailer, U.S.A.R. Boat Package, and HazMat confined space entry package. 

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     The UASI program focus is to support state and local efforts to prevent terrorism and other catastrophic events and to prepare the nation for the threats and hazards that pose the greatest risk to our security.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     The amount of the grant request is $210,000 and there is no match required for this grant.

                     The City will be responsible for maintenance cost.
