RECOMMENDED ACTION:                     

                     Approve a resolution naming a new park.

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     This park (generally referred to as Prestwyck) is located in the Prestwyck subdivision.  

 

                     The recommended name for this park is Prestwyck Park. 

 

                     Prestwyck is the name of the subdivision that the park is located within.

 

                     Naming of a Park is typically coordinated with the project’s construction, which is currently in progress.

 

                     The City’s naming policy requires that the Parks Board provide a name or names to the City Council for consideration, in accordance with the guidelines set forth by City Council.

 

                     Generally, a name(s) should be selected based on the following: Outstanding and/or predominant geographical or physical features of the land; Outstanding and/or predominant historical features of significance; Contributions of land for a park site; or in honor of a community/state leader or hero.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     This 10 acre neighborhood park located within the Prestwyck subdivision is currently under construction and set to open in Fall 2021.

BOARD OR COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION:

                     On August 12th, 2021, the PROS Advisory Board recommended to City Council that this park be named Prestwyck Park.
