RECOMMENDED PARK BOARD ACTION:
• Approval of the Recommendation.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• This proposed trail project will connect the existing Wilson Creek trailhead on the north side of Eldorado Parkway to the McKinney Greens parkland. This is a critical connection that will provide a continuous pedestrian connection from this park all the way to our parkland near Lake Forest Drive.
• The proposed project will provide connectivity between Towne Lake and the McKinney Greens parkland and include amenities such as:
o Trail improvements
o Bridge crossings
o Trail overlook
o Site furnishings
• This agenda item will authorize a professional services contract with LJA Engineering, to provide design and construction administration services for the Wilson Creek Greens Trail.
• This item is scheduled for City Council consideration on December 21st.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• LJA Engineering was selected from a list of pre-qualified landscape architectural firms that Council approved on June 18, 2019.
• They are providing design and construction services for the nearby project at the Greens neighborhood park as well as master planning services for Towne Lake. Due to their quality of work and maintaining design consistency in the immediate area, LJA Engineering was requested to provide design and construction administration services for this trail project.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• This project (PK1213) is a FY19-20 Capital Improvements Program funded by MCDC funds and grant monies
• In October of this year, this project was awarded a $396,000 matching grant from the Collin County Open Space program.
