RECOMMENDED COUNCIL ACTION:
• Staff is recommending approval of the Trails Plan.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• The Trails Plan is designed to improve connectivity, close the gaps in our trail system, increase safety and accessibility for all trail users, support economic development and enhance the quality of life for area residents.
• Specifically, this document will include:
• recommendations on key trail segments to complete gaps in the system
• overall trails map
• design guidelines
• implementation strategies
• In a concurrent agenda item, the Park Master Plan is also being recommended for approval.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• Staff previously provided a presentation on the overall Master Plan and Trails Plan during the November 1, 2022 Council work session.
• Dunaway Associates was selected from a list of pre-qualified landscape architectural firms that Council approved on July 22, 2022.
• The current Parks Master Plan and Trails Plan was adopted in 2017.
PARK BOARD RECOMMENDATION:
• On December 8, 2022, the Parks, Recreation and Open Space Advisory Board unanimously approved the Trails Plan.
