RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
• Receive the annual update from staff regarding development activities and programs in the Historically Significant Area of McKinney.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• This work session item is to provide a review and update on historic preservation regulatory enforcement, program administration, education, and outreach during the 2023 calendar year.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• The historic preservation ordinances were first enacted in McKinney in the 1980s.
• In late 2022, staff presented a review of the state of historic preservation programs and provided an overview of opportunities and options for maintaining and improving the work of historic preservation in McKinney. As part of this effort, staff now provides an annual update of historic preservation activities and programs in historic McKinney.
