RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
• Approval of the Ordinance.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• This Ordinance will modify the effective reduced speed school zone times for Scoggins Middle School and Wortham Intermediate School.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• Frisco ISD requested the reduced speed school zone times be adjusted at Scoggins Middle School and Wortham Intermediate School to accommodate students participating in extracurricular activities.
• Staff will modify the morning school zone time to be established 55 minutes before the beginning of school for the day and end 5 minutes after the beginning of school. The afternoon school zone will be established 5 minutes before the dismissal of school and will end 55 minutes after the dismissal time.
• The reduced school zone time periods will be consistent with the Frisco ISD school schedule at all other middle school time periods.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• Funds for the modification of the reduced speed school zone signage is provided by the engineering department’s operating budget.
