ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     McKinney Community Development Corporation will conduct a public hearing on a project grant application submitted by Sugar Rush Holdings (dba Cami Cakes) for $33,127.25 for infrastructure renovations necessary for preparing space for a new bakery.

                     Project elements include expanding electrical capacity and installing a grease trap, both of which are required by the City code.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     Cami Cakes has been in business since 2006 and has stores in Florida and Georgia. This will be their first location in this region.

                     The bakery specializes in gourmet cupcakes, layer cakes and ice creams.

                     Their mission is to “create happiness on cupcake at a time” by providing quality food and service in a friendly atmosphere while preserving customer trust and confidence.

 

 FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     Funds allocated for MCDC Retail Development Infrastructure Grants total $300,000. Maximum award for any single grant is $50,000.

                     This is the first time Sugar Rush Holdings has requested funding from MCDC.

                     The request is eligible for MCDC consideration under Section 501.103 of the Texas Local Government Code - Projects related to museums and exhibition facilities.
