ITEM SUMMARY: 

•                     McKinney Main Street applied for a grant, in the amount of $103,133.92to purchase a new non-electric, 14-passenger, climate-controlled Downtown trolley for the DASH Program.

•                     The trolley will allow for increased accessibility and provide safe and reliable visitor transport throughout Downtown and businesses East of Highway 5.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

•                     The Historic Downtown Cultural District has been the heart of the community since 1848.

•                     The District attracts citizens and visitors for shopping, dining and arts through a variety of independently owned shops and restaurants; events like McKinney Oktoberfest, Arts in Bloom and the July 4^th Hometown Parade; and through strong support and preservation of the historic features that influence economic vitality.

•                     The District is home to more than 120 independently owned businesses; a creative community that helps shape the look and feel of the area; and acclaimed chefs and restaurants that have created a food destination.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY:

•                     Funds allocated for MCDC discretionary Project Grants for FY23 total $2,177,223.00, and $74,885.50 in discretionary funds remain.

•                     Additional funds are available via budget transfer.

•                     The request is eligible for MCDC consideration under Section 505.152 of the Texas Local Government Code.
