RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:                     

                     Approval of the Resolution.

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     This Resolution authorizes the City Manager to execute a contract in the amount of $553,200, as well as all required supplemental agreements thereto, with Kimley - Horn and Associates, Inc. for professional landscape architectural services for the Al Ruschhaupt Connector Road Project (PK2345), for a total aggregate contract amount, inclusive of any supplemental agreements, not to exceed $560,000.

 

                     The Al Ruschhaupt Connector Road Project will provide  a park road connection with a vehicular bridge between phase 1 and phase 2 of the original complex along with additional parking and new monument signage. The connector road will allow for the two phases of the complex to be connected for easier traffic flow within the sports complex from one side to the other.

 BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     Kimley - Horn and Associates, was selected from a list of pre-qualified landscape architectural firms that Council approved on July 19,2022.

 

                     Kimley - Horn and Associates completed the 2021 master plan for the overall complex as well as the design of the newly constructed restroom building.

 

                     The 96 acre park was originally developed in two phases, consisting of five soccer fields, multi - use fields for cricket, football, and lacrosse, hike, and bike trails, two concession / restroom facilities, picnic shelter, splash pad, amphitheater, playgrounds, and 2 parking lots.

 

                     Al Ruschhaupt Park is located at 1986 Park View Ave. in McKinney, TX

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     This Resolution authorizes a design contract and any necessary supplemental agreements with Kimley - Horn and Associates, Inc. for an amount not to exceed $560,000.

 

                     Al Ruschhaupt Connector Road Project (PK2345) is a F23-24 Capital Improvements Program project funded by Parkland Dedication funds.

 

                     After award of this item $2,380.00 will remain in the project.

 

BOARD OR COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION:

                     On August 10, 2023, the Parks, Recreation and Open Space Advisory Board recommended to City Council the award of the design contract.
