RECOMMENDED ACTION:
• Approval of the Resolution
ITEM SUMMARY:
• This agenda item will authorize a professional services contract with Westwood to provide design and construction administration services for additional park amenities, trail connection and landscape enhancements for the Rowlett Creek Park- South Project in a contract amount of $244,300.00 and not to exceed $255,000.00
• This proposed trail project will connect to the existing trail within Rowlett Creek Park on the north side of Stacy to newly acquired parkland on the south. This is a critical connection that will provide a continuous, grade separated pedestrian connection from this park. This trail is part of the Six City trail system that is part of the Collin County Trail system.
• The proposed project will provide connectivity and include amenities such as:
o Trail improvements
o Updated playground
o New site furnishings
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• In 2025, this project was awarded a $600,000 matching grant from the Collin County Open Space program.
• Westwood was selected from a list of pre-qualified landscape architectural firms. (25-27RFQ)
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• This project (PK2505) is a FY25-26 Capital Improvements Program funded by parkland dedication, Collin County grant, and bond monies.
• Upon approval of this item, $539,539 Will remain in this project.
BOARD OR COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION:
• On June 11, 2026, the Parks Board recommended to City Council the award of the design contract.
