RECOMMENDED PARK BOARD ACTION:
• Approval of the Recommendation.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• This agenda item will authorize a professional services contract with LJA Engineering, to provide design and construction administration services for the Wilson Creek Greens Trail Phase 2 in a contract amount of $225,150.
• This trail project will connect to phase 1 of the Wilson Creek Greens Trail and along and through the McKinney Greens parkland to Stewart Rd. This is a critical connection that will provide a continuous pedestrian connection from this park to Towne Lake and Gray Branch parkland.
• The proposed project will also include amenities such as:
o Trail improvements
o Bridge crossings
o Trail overlook
o Parking lot
o Trailhead
o Restroom Building
o Fishing Pier
o Site furnishings
• This item is scheduled for City Council consideration on December 5th.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• LJA Engineering was selected from a list of pre-qualified landscape architectural firms that Council approved on July 19, 2022.
• They are providing design and construction services for the nearby project at the Greens neighborhood park and the Wilson Creek Greens Trail as well as master planning services for Towne Lake. Due to their quality of work and maintaining design consistency in the immediate area, LJA Engineering was requested to provide design and construction administration services for this trail project.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• This project (PK1827) is a FY23-24 Capital Improvements Program funded by MCDC funds and grant monies.
• This project was awarded a $250,681 matching grant from the Collin County Open Space program in 2022.
