ITEM SUMMARY:
• On Tuesday, August 24, the McKinney City Council will appoint members to the various city Boards & Commissions. Unless noted otherwise, those appointed will serve terms effective October 1, 2021-September 30, 2023.
• For consideration, interested individuals (including incumbent members with terms expiring in 2021) must complete an application and participate in an interview.
• The deadline to apply is Friday June 18, 2021. Apply online at <https://mckinney.granicus.com/boards/apply>. Incumbent board members should use the email address on file to update their existing application.
• Interviews will be conducted in July / August (schedule to be determined)
• Prior to October 1, new and reappointed members must complete Board Member Orientation conducted by the Board Clerk and / or Office of the City Secretary (schedule to be determined)
• As part of this annual process, the Mayor will assign two (2) Council Member Liaisons to each of the following boards:
o McKinney Community Development Corporation
o McKinney Convention & Visitors Bureau / Visit McKinney
o McKinney Economic Development Corporation
o McKinney Housing Authority
o McKinney Main Street Board
o Parks, Recreation & Open Space Advisory Board
o Planning & Zoning Commission

• Every year, approximately half of all McKinney Boards & Commissions appointments expire, with those vacancies filled by City Council vote.
• Appointment terms last two years. Board Members can serve up to three (3) consecutive terms.
