ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     The Collin County Master Gardeners Association is requesting $10,040.00 for advertising, marketing, promotion and advertising of the 2024 Garden Show.

                     Event date is March 16-17, 2024, and will take place at Myers Park.

                     Anticipated attendance is 7,000-9,000.

                     Opportunities offered at the Garden Show include children’s education and hands-on activities, information about how to buy plants appropriate for North Texas, vetted vendors who provide gardening products and services, research-based horticultural information booths featuring Master Gardeners, interactive presentations and demonstrations, and horticultural activities.

                     While entrance is free, CCMGA hopes to benefit local non-profits through suggested $2 donations at the entrance of The Garden Show. In 2023, they collected $5,855 in donations for Community Garden Kitchen.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     The Collin County Master Gardeners Association was established to assist and support the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Horticulture agent in providing the community with research-based information on sustainable practices and environmental stewardship.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY: 

                     MCDC’s allocation for Promotional and Community Event grants for FY 23 is $200,000 -- $100,000 for Cycle I applicants and $100,000 for Cycle II applicants.

                     Actual total grant funds available for Cycle II are $131,458. This includes reappropriations of unspent funds from FY 2022.

                     MCDC awarded a Promotional and Community Event grant totaling $9,850 in FY 22 to the Collin County Master Gardeners Association for the 2023 Garden Show.
