RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:
• Approval of the Resolution
ITEM SUMMARY:
• This Resolution authorizes the City Manager to execute a contract in the amount of $451,000 with Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. consulting engineering services for the Downtown Lighting Improvements and authorizing all necessary change orders under said contract up to an aggregate contract amount, inclusive of any change orders, not to exceed $520,000.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• The Downtown Lighting Improvements will provide the design of continuous roadway illumination and the design of public parking lots illumination in Downtown McKinney. The limits of the downtown area for this project are McDonald St on the east, Lamar St on the north, Church St on the west, and Davis St on the south.
• Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. was one of ten firms selected as part of 21-19RFQ - On-Call Traffic Engineering Services that was approved by City Council on February 2, 2021. Kimley Horn and Associates was selected based on qualifications to conduct the roadway illumination design.
• The Downtown Lighting Improvements does not include the construction phase. The construction phase will be pursued after the design is completed.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• This Resolution authorizes a contract with Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. for an amount not to exceed $520,000.
• Funds are available in the Capital Improvements Program TR2314.
• With the approval of this item, $160,887 will remain in TR2314 with an additional $3,250,000 of GO bonds planned to be issued for construction in 2024.
