RECOMMENDED BOARD ACTION: No action - for Information Sharing purposes only

 

ITEM SUMMARY: 

                     On Tuesday, August 26, the McKinney City Council will appoint members to the various city Boards & Commissions.  Unless noted otherwise, those appointed will serve terms effective October 1, 2025-September 30, 2027.

                     To be considered, interested individuals (including incumbent members with terms expiring in 2025) must complete an application and participate in an interview.

                     The deadline to apply is Friday June 20, 2025. Apply online at <https://mckinney.granicus.com/boards/apply>. Incumbent board members should use the email address on file to update their existing application.

                     Interviews will be conducted in July / August, and all approved candidates will be contacted to confirm their schedule.

                     New and reappointed members must complete Open Government Training and any related training as assigned before October 1, 2025.

                     Board Officer elections are held in the month of October.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

                     Every year, approximately half of all McKinney Boards & Commissions appointments expire, with those vacancies filled by City Council vote.

                     Appointment terms last two years. Board Members can serve up to two (2) or three (3) consecutive terms, depending on which board they are assigned to.
