RECOMMENDED BOARD ACTION:
• Recommend that City Council approve a resolution for construction.
ITEM SUMMARY:
• This resolution authorizes the City Manager to execute a contract for construction services for the Wattley Park Renovations PK1831.
• This renovation project aims to improve outdated facilities. The upgrades will include a new basketball court, new playground structures, an improved pavilion, and enhanced parking. Additionally, a new pavilion will be added, along with a new trail that will wind around the open space.
• Sixteen (16) bids were received by Procurement Services on August 20, 2026.
• Staff, along with Dunaway Associates LP support, recommend awarding the construction bid to A&C Construction, Inc. in an amount of $2,049,500 along with a $102,500 contingency for a total not to exceed amount of $2,152,000.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
• This project will follow the Wattley Park Stream Bank Stabilization Project (DR2118).
• Dunaway Associates, LP completed the design of these Improvements in 2023. The project was put on hold until the Wattley Park Stream Bank Stabilization Project could be completed.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
• This project (PK1831) is a FY26-27 Capital Improvements Program funded by MCDC funds and 2023 Bond dollars.
