RECOMMENDED CITY COUNCIL ACTION:

                     Approval of Resolution

 

ITEM SUMMARY:

                     This Resolution authorizes the City Manager to execute a contract and all necessary change orders with Garret Shields Infrastructure, LLC, to provide additional construction services for the Citywide Street Rehabilitation CIP project ST2408, increasing the not to exceed fee from $9,200,000.00 to a total aggregate contract amount, inclusive of any additional change orders, not to exceed $10,427,608.50.

 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: 

                     Garret Shields Infrastructure, LLC, is currently under contract with the City for construction services related to the Citywide Street Rehabilitation, which includes concrete panel replacements along Eldorado Parkway and Virginia Parkway.

                     As the construction on the project has progressed, additional concrete panels need to be replaced due to unforeseen field conditions including subgrade failure, tree roots extending under the roadway, and further cracking that was identified during construction.

                     Additional services were added to implement root barriers where trees are in close proximity to the road and to add sealant to the concrete panels.

                     Staff will continue to work with the contractor on future change orders to complete reconstruction of as many panels as possible under this contract.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY:

                     This Resolution authorizes a change order with Garret Shields Infrastructure, LLC , for an increase in the not to exceed contract amount from $9,200,000.00 to a total aggregate contract amount, inclusive of any additional change order, not to exceed $10,427,608.50.

                     Funding for this change order is included in the CIP project ST2408.

                     With the approval of this item, $67,391 will remain in ST2408.
